Support VGS with the Thrifty Smile Card
Get Thrifty Foods to donate 5% worth of your grocery bill to VGS – Speak to our director Ralf Gabriel, or any of the Board members to receive a Thrifty Smile Card. You can then load your card with the amount of your choice and use it for payment. This card is registered with our school, so that Thrifty Foods will give 5% of the money you spend buying your groceries to Victoria German School, thus helping us keeping our tuition low and quality high.
We also recommend card holders record the 19 digit card number on the back left of their SMiLE card. If a card is lost/stolen, please report this to any Thrifty Foods location immediately.

Support VGS when dropping off your recyclables at the “Bottle Depot”
When returning your recyclables at the various Bottle Depot locations in and around Victoria, you can support VGS by donating your bottle deposits to VGS. Just say that you would like the deposit money to go towards the “Victoria German School”. Thank you!
Support VGS when buying at “The Soap Exchange”
When buying at The Soap Exchange (1393A Hillside Ave Victoria, BC V8T 2B3 / Phone: 250-475-0033), please just mention “Victoria German School”. The seller will mark this down in a receipt book and VGS will receive 10% worth of the sale! Thank you!
Please check our calendar for more information. A call for volunteers and announcements about these events usually goes out a few weeks before the event. Please consider supporting the school by volunteering to help with set-up, take-down, and running the VGS booth, and by spreading the word about the following events.
While we are not sure whether any of the contacts made at these events are actually resulting in bringing in new students, it is a pleasure talking to the community and seeing the interest in the German language, Culture, and Food! Thank you!
Events we have participated in over the last years are the Buccaneer Days in Esquimalt, Cordova Bay Day, and (in conjunction with the Edelweiss Club) the Saanich Fall Fair. Future ones we are thinking about are the Gorge Festival and the Oak Bay Tea Party.
